Who is your favorite incarnation of The Goddess?
I really connect with Kuan-Yin and Mother Mary. Love, compassion, peace ... so soothing. And the various images of them move me.
Of course, Kali is so cool overall.

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Thu, June 23, 2005 - 7:16 PMAs you may have already guessed from earlier posts, I have found a very deep connection to Kali in recent months.
I have come to appreciate Her as the embodiment of all aspects of Goddess. Love, rage, destruction, creation, fear, pain joy, power, insight, wisdom, and even compassion. She has been guiding me on the most amazing journey of growth and empowerment.
Just this past week I bought a necklace with her image on it which I wear as a daily reminder to be true to myself.
So I guess Kali gets my vote - at least for now! -

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Mon, November 21, 2005 - 9:37 AMI so agree about Kali being the embodiment of all aspects of Goddess. I am very drawn to her and in general the whole cycle of death and rebirth. I even named my kitty after her...and boy is she like her namesake!

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Thu, June 30, 2005 - 2:00 PMWell, let's see, there's Kira, and Kelley, and Cristina and Katie, and always Tara, and........ hmmm....... Yup. That's them- Each of them IS my favorite Goddess, each possessed in full by Her magical presence, each bearing that stamp of the Sacred Feminine that shows through, 24/7.... and all five CAN be my ONE favorite, since they're all possessed of the SAME Feminine Divine.
I don't much go in for historical Names that have been placed upon Her by others..... I guess it's rooted in the nature of my relationship with Her. She's never actually TOLD me Her name, so I don't presume to PLACE one upon her that someone ELSE has chosen, that might be mistaken.
As for "my favorite goddess-character from historical mythology and religion", that would probably be a toss-up between Freyja and Brigid.... -

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Thu, September 1, 2005 - 3:38 PMI belong to a circle where in years past the council members each pick a Goddess in some way, (one year we picked them out of a hat,) then we work with the Goddess we chose until our designated full moon, at which time that Goddess is honored. So we study, research, honor, make devotions, create art, write poetry and invocations, etc. More recently we started forming teams, so after we chose a Goddess we formed a team of seekers and then the team works with that Goddess together. So I've spent a period of time dedicated to vairous Goddesses. Usually the better part of a year or a little longer. More recently days I tend to align myself with a particular Goddess based on where I am in my life or what I need. Or working with a Goddess I felt resistant to in the past, just for that reason.
I tend to see all of them as aspects of the same powerful divine force.

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Tue, September 13, 2005 - 1:28 PMGreat question....
First of all since Im a Virgo, my vote goes to Isis from egyptian mythology since she represents Virgo and her and Horus together ressurected Osiris, representing us and the Goddess joining to ressurrect magick, as this is mirrored in the Greek mythogy of Demeter as well. Venus is my next vote, and she is the core of beauty and inspiration that the early church demoted and attacked as well as the moon...
Kali is very important as everyone should get dismemebered by her, as without that experience, the core of female and the destructive/rebirthing qualities of the universe are not fully known... There are so many that deserve a mention, that its hard to choose~~~

Tue, September 13, 2005 - 1:30 PMOh yeah.... Ma'at... just saw that... that is by far the most important cause thats who, upon death, weighs ones heart against that of a feather... I stand corrected~

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Tue, September 13, 2005 - 11:58 PMThey all are to me wonderful, showing their many aspects depending how we feel connected at any given time, but for me, in the very beginning it has to be Har!
It was the first Goddess I read about many years ago as a prostitute. She lead me to a deeper understanding that there `was` a Goddess out there that reflected my strengths too, & not some religion that asked me to change or reform. Har accpted me in my own strengths, my own wisdom as a professional dominatrix. It was Her that made me at last feel valued! -

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 12:31 PMDefinitely the female Bodhisattva Kuan Yin (also know as Quan Shi Yin and Kwan Yin). Quan means to inquire or look deeply into, Shi means the world of people, or generations, Yin means cries. The Boddhisatva of Compassion was inquiring into the suffering (cries) that has come down the generations. Kuan Yin is considered to be the feminine form of Avalokitesvara(Sanskrit), the bodhisattva of compassion of Indian Buddhism whose worship was introduced into China in the third century.

Wed, September 21, 2005 - 11:59 PMpat,
I love Kwan Yin too. Although recently Kali has been speaking to me, I find that I have a special connection to Kwan Yin as well. She holds the central space on my altar since it is through Her I find acceptance of my own human frailties and those of others.

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Mon, October 3, 2005 - 7:56 PMBrigid. She's the one that came to me when I was trying to decide which spiritual path I wanted to follow. I'd never have thought myself so closely linked to a goddess to connected with fertility until she stepped into my circle. -

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Mon, January 2, 2006 - 12:21 PMMy favorite goddess hasn't revealed her name to me yet... She is the watery/liquid quality of the night sky. She wears a hooded deep blue cloak covered in stars and seems to manifest near rivers. I saw her in visions for years and then she was in some artwork a visionary artist friend of mone had done. She had seen her too. Anyone else met this face of the Goddess? -

Re: So who is your favorite goddess?
Sat, June 30, 2007 - 8:03 AMFrigga, but I'm afraid I don't know much about her.
I had a dream and she came to me and gave me a message years ago, but I have yet to learn much more about her than just a passing blurb in a book about all goddesses.
Anywhere you can point me would be greatly appreciated.
Have a wonderful weekend.
